Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage a number of java application servers, which can include Tomcat, Glassfish, Websphere and other application servers.
- Perform the installation and high performance configuration of:
- Apache Tomcat/ the dotCMS, an open source, java based CMS/content management system.
- Apache, mod_rewrite, mod_ssl and mod_jk
- Postgresql, Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL Database servers
- Linux and Windows
- Network Resources such as NFS shares and mounts.
- Assist in installing and managing existing Windows and Linux Servers at a colocation facility and in Amazon’s EC2 cloud, both remotely and physically
- Take turns acting as first emergency responder to outages and support issues that might arise on a 24/7 basis with client installations.
- Working with other it staff to manage the computers and network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
Environment work experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 5 years system administration within a Unix/Linux and Windows (less so) environment
- Working technical knowledge of network and server operating systems, including Linux, Windows and UNIX.
- Working technical knowledge of internet network hardware, protocols, and standards, TCPIP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP.
- Experience working with and managing servers for Version Control Systems, CVS, SVN, GIT, HG, PERFORCE, etc.
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Good judgment in the maintenance of relational database management systems (RDMS) software.
Requirements:
- Administrative scripting (bash, tcsh, Perl)
- 5+ Years experience with Linux.
- 2+ Years experience with Windows servers
- 2+ years Experience with Java application servers and application environments.
- Apache Tomcat basic server management
- Experience LDAP/Active Directory services
- 2+ years Database experience: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle
- Experience in Firewall environments and Firewall configuration.
- Knowledge of security standards and procedures.
- Knowledge and/or experience with TCP, Web, Internet protocols
